TOESTee with the MOSTee

TOEST athlete Andres undertook not just one first this weekend, but two firsts.

His first first, was a 400m open water swim leading off his family in the relay event of the Multisport Rose City Super Sprint Triathlon held on Saturday.

His second first, was competing on Sunday at the EOMAC 2017 Long Course Worlds Warm Up swim meet held at the Etobicoke Olympium.  He swam 50 FR both in the individual event, and leading off the TOEST relay team in the 200 (4×50) FR relay event.

Wow, what a weekend!  Congratulations Andres

Did I mention Andres just started swimming in January this year… 6 months ago Andres was in TOEST’s Learn2Swim program, this weekend he was crowned an open water swimmer, a triathlete and a competitive masters swimmer.

North Shore Challenge – Lake Erie Open Water Swim

A group of TOESTees headed out to the shores of Lake Erie @ Turkey Point to swim the North Shore Challenge – a fundraiser for Camp Trillium.

Patricia who is warming up for the Trisport Series Niagara Triathlon in Grimsby in a couple weeks took on the 1km swim. Patricia shared that the water temperature was about 70 degrees, so she opted to swim with a wetsuit. A wetsuit was probably a good decision considering the challenge the athletes would encounter once in the water: on the triangular course, the swimmers faced waves and a current for 2 legs making it feel like they were swimming uphill. Only on the 3rd leg into shore did the athletes get a reprieve. Based on finishing times, the effort to complete the distances was evident across all events. Nicely swam Patricia.

Which makes the following that much more impressive…

For Iouri the North Shore Challenge was altogether a whole other challenge: it was his first ever open water swim! Having joined TOEST in January in the Learn2Swim program and having continued with Coach Carolina in the Kick2Start program, Iouri decided it was time to put his swimming to the test.

Well done and congratulations on your first open water swim Iouri! Absolutely awesome.

2017 Ironman Tremblant

TOESTee Patti Loney competed at Ironman Tremblant, her first iron distance triathlon.

Despite suffering a broken wrist mid-way in her build up to race day, Patti was still able to put in the training to be able to finish in a time of 11:39:39.

With the entire family cheering, its thanks to Rob that we have these photos of Patti from the event.

Congratulations Patti!
